Armando Pacheco was born in Puerto Rico in 1952. He began reciting poetry and acting since elementary school and continues his performances until today. His writing includes numerous essays, poetry, songs and books such as Padre Nuestro que te escondes en el cielo de San Antón al Bronx (1990), Biografía del Dr. Ramón Emeterio Betances Alacán: Padre de la Patria Puertorriqueña / Biography of Dr. Ramón Emeterio Betances Alacán: Father of the Puerto Rican Motherland (1998), the novel The Conscience of Puerto Rico / La Conciencia de Puerto Rico (2012), the bilingual poetry book Amor, Patria, Libertad: Poemas, Pensamientos y Canciones / Love, Motherland, Liberty: Poems, Thoughts and Songs (2012), and the Spanish opera Antón: Una Ópera Boricua (2021). Mr. Pacheco is the leader of the Latin folkloric band Patria y Cultura which is rooted in Puerto Rico. It plays Afro-Caribbean rhythms such as: Plena, Bomba, Música Jíbara, Danza, Salsa and Bolero. That band has recorded five CDs which have been sold and heard all over the world. The group has performed in the United States, all over Puerto Rico, and Cuba. Armando Pacheco writes all the songs for the group.
