Chalk Art fest, is a free public event bringing together community members and stakeholders, students, pedestrians, amateurs and professional artists to express themselves for the joy, fun and beauty of art or through poetic representations of real-world issues such as migration, childcare, gender, social and environmental justice, using Chalk.

In Tijay Mohammed's multimedia site-specific installations and workshops, he assembles day-to-day objects into symbolic engaging discoveries as group portraits. He communicate the hopefulness in discarded remains of our lives (Fabric scraps, metro cards, jewelries, photographs, stories, etc.) that are often overlooked, forgotten or no longer valuable but recalls the history of their previous breaths, journey and proprietors. In his work history plays an essential role in the process of repurposing these objects and stories of the owners in addressing issues of migration, social and gender.
