The I'RAISE Dance Academy is a youth development arts program which teaches youth in the Bronx District beginner and intermediate dance. The types of dance offered include jazz, ballet, African and contemporary. The dance academy is open to all youth ages 5 -18 years of age in the Bronx district with an interest in dance. Students receive instruction in dance theory and techniques, theatre and performing arts. The dance curriculum is infused in empowering students and teaching youth positive self-esteem. Dance participants engage in weekly dance workshops, facilitated by two dance instructors. During these workshops, youth are taught choreography and the art of performance. Youth are prepared during workshops to perform at community and local Bronx venues. The dance academy hosts two major performances each semester free to the Bronx community.
