Rabih Ahmed is a Ghanaian-American Muslim poet and performer from The Bronx. Her poetry is grounded within the oral traditions and histories of the African diaspora, binding narratives across the Atlantic. She is a 2019 Poets House Fellow and has received support from Winter Tangerine and Cave Canem. Her work was first recognized by the Department of Education where she was commissioned to South Africa to meet Nelson Mandela. Since then, she has performed her poetry in Brazil, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. She has been featured at the Apollo Theatre, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, at various college campuses and organizations. She is a graduate with a B.A in Political Science from SUNY New Paltz. In 2017, she founded LOVE LIGHT & POETRY, a business with a mission to illuminate poetry as a modality of resistance, healing, and celebration.
