Marcia moved to New York in 2014 to attend the graduate writing program at Sarah Lawrence College. After earning her MFA, she felt she needed to stay in the Bronx to continue teaching creative writing in adult education, and for high school students in the Bronx, Yonkers, and Westchester, and because writing is so respected in this city. She is also a part-time copywriter for Sarah Lawrence’s writing department and teaches college application essay writing and science fiction at an annual teen event. One cold winter, she taught local teens who were economically challenged, where she met a young homeless mother who still had hope in her eyes and in her writing. She wants to write a book about these young people next.
