
Child of the Church Productions (COTC) creates original site-specific staged performances recombining performance modes across electronic, chamber music, jazz, sacred music, opera, and folk traditions. The group creates evening-length musical pieces that build cultural bridges and disrupt traditional genres and canons. They have received support from the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA), NYSCA, and FCA, and have produced original performances for The Kitchen (2023), Queens Museum (2021), Saint Peter’s Church (2023), Lafayette Avenue Church (2019), and Roulette Intermedium (2024). Their work has been reviewed and mentioned in ArtForum, Composer Magazine, and Cultured Magazine. Under the moniker "Ancient Moods" Gobby has released two albums with COTC musicians. COTC artists and musicians represent a wide range of backgrounds and traditions including electronic music, classical music, jazz, folk, pop, and more.
COTC FOUNDERS:
Gobby: Composer, producer, trumpet player and drummer who has played at venues including MoMA, PS1, Webster Hall, Pioneer Works. Gobby has released albums in a wide range of styles with Uno Records and Hoss Records and he produced Mykki Blanco's first album. As a hearing-impaired composer, Gobby is interested in making music that plays with what he and the audience can hear.
Lucia della Paolera: Director, producer, vocalist of COTC. Classically trained, she performs in a wide range of styles and contexts, from churches to clubs to museums. She is also Director of Development and Special Projects for Bronx-based immigrant arts organization ID Studio and directed their "South Bronx Cribs" community documentary project. della Paolera is also a literary translator and immigrant rights advocate.
