Members of the Bronx community will be invited to explore the roots of Jazz and Hip Hop music. There will be a discussion of the sociopolitical climate that influenced the music, it's innovators, and the future of the music.
I will be commissioning new compositions that exhibit the fundamentals of jazz and hip hop. These compositions will detail examples of what identifies the music as jazz and/or hip hop. Examples of rhythm, harmony, phrasing, articulation, and improvisation will be displaying by world-reknown musicians.
There will be a Question and Answer portion at the end of each clinic/performance in the series so that members of the Bronx community will have a hand in the creation, dialogue, and understanding of the work that will be presented.
