The Parkchester Annual Celebration of Kwanzaa is a community event that aims to celebrate the cultural traditions of Kwanzaa. The event has a rich tradition of showcasing thought-provoking films that resonate with the seven core principles (Nguzo Saba): promoting unity, self-determination, collective work, responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
‘Creating Unity in the Community,’ aims to celebrate and strengthen African and Pan-Africanism through practicing Kwanzaa culture, traditions, and ancestry. The Nguzo Saba (seven principles) focuses on family values and youth initiatives which include performers, vendors, speakers, and activism. We honor our ancestors by practicing libation for Unity in the Community. Our goal is to foster generational solidarity and promote unity within our community.
