I'm an Air Force veteran and Bronx-based singer. Trained at Music & Art High School, I hold BA and MSW degrees. My music promotes advocacy, self-awareness, and empowerment, and my goal is to soothe and enrich audiences with captivating riffs and soul. A mix of Black-American and Afro-Latina, the primary influences on my music are my culture and church upbringing. Once a teen mom and high school dropout, I stopped performing for 20 years, believing that a professional singing career was a pipe dream. After a twelve-year social work career, I became a performer and grassroots fundraiser in 2012. Singing at Carnegie Hall twice in 2015 from grants I won helped me believe in myself. For the past nine years, I’ve performed throughout NYS, NJ, New Orleans, and North Carolina. In 2016, I founded Morrisania Band Project (MBP), an award-winning musical collective that adds vibrancy to the community through music, community engagement, and social awareness. For the past four years, we’ve presented free concerts at Bronx city parks and public spaces, with sponsors, Bronx Music Heritage Center, Bronx Borough President-Elect Vanessa Gibson, and more. MBP concerts “keep the lights on in a dark and depressed community” stated one attendee. For 2021, MBP welcomed a return to live performances with the “Soul Music Explosion”, a series of live concerts throughout the Bronx. Most recently, we headlined at Bronx Night Market’s finale event on October 30th, and will tribute the iconic Aretha Franklin at Riverdale’s Sunday Market on November 21st.
