Bronx Urban Youth (ages 16-23) engage in a nature photography program learning photography and photo-editing techniques. Photoshoot field trips to a variety of epic Bronx nature locations, with presentations on Bronx nature history, conservation, and preservation. Participants provide public exhibitions of nature photography, with oral presentations on nature and environmentalism.
This project is presented by Roy Secord with community partner, Friends of Mosholu Parkland (FOMP). FOMP is a grassroots, nonprofit organization engaging community residents, businesses, and elected officials to recognize Mosholu Parkland (located in the North Central Bronx between Bronx Park/NY Botanical Garden and Van Cortlandt Park) as the people's parkland. FOMP organizes community and seasonal events, gardening and art projects, designated pocket gardens, as well as playground and parkland restoration for a cleaner, greener Mosholu Parkland for now and future generations. FOMP is pro-active in engaging local community in the diverse use and betterment of this beautiful, local parkland. They host many local community events within the parkland throughout the year.
