Susan MacMurdy

Susan MacMurdy is an artist and former educator.  Born in White Plains, NY, she has lived between the Bronx and the Hudson Valley, returning to the Bronx in 2013. She received a BA with Distinction in Fine Arts from The George Washington University. She holds two graduate degrees from Bank Street College of Education and was a founding teacher at the Bronx New School in the 1980s.  Her work has been exhibited in solo, curated, and juried exhibitions. Her collages and early woodblock and linoleum prints have been featured in publications focused on issues of spirituality, peace, social and earth justice.  Her recent work contemplates the complex relationship between Nature and the urban environment; a relationship characterized by fragility and persistence---and in this time of global pandemic---solace and healing.

“In the city or beyond, Nature is where I begin.”
