Ruth creates intimate spaces filled with figurative paintings that contain her mother’s fabrics, prints, immigration papers, biographic documents, and furniture from her childhood home. For the past five years, Ruth has been contributing to her Exhausted Women series, which is inspired by her grandmother’s strength, her experiences as a factory worker, the contrast of Dominican cultural female norms in American land, and unspoken expectations placed upon the modern woman.
