Diego Barcacel Peña is a writer and musician born in the Dominican Republic in 1995 and raised in the Bronx since 1998. Having come to the boogie down at such a young age and living with die-hard Dominican parents, he has lived between two worlds. This is something that has influenced his poetry greatly as one can see with his poems filled with themes of the Dominican diaspora, growing up in the Bronx, and 21st-century technology. His favorite poem is ‘The Weary Blues’ by Langston Hughes and is greatly influenced by musical acts like Drain Gang, Kanye West, and The Talking Heads. He works as a music producer under the name DEATHBED XCV.
