David Wayne is a Bronx native currently living in the North Bronx. A student and labor activist and union member, he has worked as a taxi driver, truck driver, teacher, bachata musician and line cook, and is currently an interpreter in Bronx Housing Court. His work experience and the analytical tools he has picked up along the way have given him a privileged view into many of the issues that are affecting the modern urban world. In turn, many of these issues, including gentrification, inequality, racism, migration, exploitation, sexism and climate change, have become the themes that inform his fiction. It is his hope that his work will be one small part of a political and social movement that will make it possible for his two daughters, 11 and 8 years old, to have a habitable planet to live on when they are older.
