Christian Hincapie was born in Colombia in 1989 and today lives and works in the Bronx. Hincapie's work relates to the specific circumstances and histories of places he comes in contact with. Through active observation and research, Hincapie brings together the material traces that reflect the simultaneous presence of both distinct individuals and the effects of power over the world. He received his BFA from the Cooper Union in 2013. He attended the Yale Norfolk program in 2012. His work has been shown through the Public Art Fund, High Tide Gallery in Philadelphia, La Mama Gallery, Mana Contemporary, The Colombian Consulate, and other spaces throughout the Tri-state area. Hincapie received his MFA in 2020 from Rutgers University where he is a Part Time Lecturer. In 2020 he was an Artist-in-Residence at the NARS Foundation Satellite Residency on Governors Island and he is currently a Keyholder Resident at the LES Printshop.
