Ajene D. Washington is a playwright, filmmaker, director, actor and set designer. He has been the recipient of numerous awards as a playwright, director, and set designer. Ajene received a B.S. degree in Speech and Drama from Lincoln University and a M.A. from Northern Illinois University. His plays have received multiple performances and readings nationwide. He is the recipient of a 2012 BRIO award, and his play A Shadow In Time was a semi-finalist at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. His play, Almost September was selected for the Arkansas Repertory Theatre “Voices at the River” series. Also, Ajene was commissioned by Woodie King’s Black Theatre Touring Circuit to write a play on Shirley Chisholm, and the Capital Repertory Theatre commissioned him to write, Around the World in Forty-Five Minutes for their summer theatre program. His play, Some Strangers has been published in the Brilliant Flame, a tribute anthology to Amiri Baraka.
