As a Haitian woman in Switzerland, the lack of Black representation in the arts drove me to connect with my Haitian and African diasporic roots through dance. From 2010 to 2016, I ran Le Centre Hip-Hop in Geneva and founded Continuum, the city’s first street and club dance theater company. A key moment in my career came in 2016 when I moved to the Bronx and focused on using dance and education to bridge communities and cultures. In 2016, I founded Passion Fruit Dance Company (PFDC) and continue to serve as its creative director and choreographer, developing socially engaged and anti-racist dance works. Our first residency, "Dance Your Future," took place at the Bronx Academy of Art and Dance in 2017. Since then, we've performed at venues including The Guggenheim, Lincoln Center, Jacob's Pillow, the New Victory Theater, and more. Since 2005, I’ve taught and mentored at institutions like Harvard and Mount Holyoke. In 2020 and 2021, I was named one of Dance Magazine's "25 to Watch" and featured in The New Yorker and Harper's Bazaar. In 2022, I received the Vilcek Foundation Prize and a juried Bessie Award. I also choreographed Footprints for the American Dance Festival in 2023. My production, Dimensions, is a multimedia dance performance that shifts perceptions and sparks critical dialogue. Combining motion capture, projections, animation, dance, music, and plaster castings, it socially engages audiences and invites them to explore limitless space, time, and social constructs, reshaping their sense of self.
