Morrisania Band Project (MBP) is an award-winning R&B soul collective founded in 2016. Our mission is to bring vibrancy to the Bronx through music, community engagement, and social initiatives. We foster cultural pride, unity, and address community needs through artistic expression. MBP performs powerful tributes to funk, rock, and soul legends, while creating original music that raises awareness of pressing social issues like gun violence and disaster relief. Recognized as Ponce Bank's "Best Cover Band in the Bronx" for 2022 and 2023, and with founder Elissa Carmona honored as "Best Singer in the Bronx" in 2024, MBP has established a deep connection to our community through captivating performances. In 2024, MBP launched the "2024 Soul Odyssey" concert series, presenting over 75 concerts across NYS, with a strong focus on cultural enrichment and community unity in the Bronx. Our upcoming "2025 Soul Expedition" concert series will kick off with 15 concerts, including a monthly residency at The Artist, setting the stage for another year of cultural engagement. The focus remains on expanding our reach within the Bronx and celebrating artistic diversity. MBP is developing "From R&B to Jazz: A Musical Journey", an initiative to blend jazz into our R&B repertoire. This project includes a spring 2025 residency in New Orleans to collaborate with local jazz musicians, and will culminate in community performances in the Bronx, celebrating the fusion of jazz and R&B. MBP is dedicated to using music as a tool for empowerment, healing, and building connections within our community.
