A braided or lyric essay invites writers to break open the traditional essay form and weave together several narrative strands, and along the way, organically make new connections and explore lyric possibilities. In this four-week workshop series, participants will write braided essays based on prompts, with a focus on finding the emotional core of their material and tuning into the music of the language. Each week of thisĀ generative workshop series will include a brief craft discussion, followed by writing from prompts, sharing work, and listening to what's working on the page. Participants should be prepared to surprise themselves and uncover new directions for their memoir.
