Pandemics have reshaped history by quarantining cities, paralyzing governments, halting commerce, and dislodging life as we know it. In this memoir-writing seminar with Orlando Ferrand, we will create a virtual space to heal and explore how COVID-19 continues to disrupt our daily routines and how antagonistic racial tensions and inequality have metastasized throughout America. From brainstorming to polishing drafts, we'll write down our bones, examining the interconnectedness between the personal and the collective amid tragedy. We'll pay close attention to literary devices to better serve our narratives in this historical time.
