Looking Within, Seeing Without, Speaking Our Truth Poetry & Photography Workshop & Reading
First Hour – Workshop
In this workshop we will be paying close observation of the beautiful natural scenery at Soundview Park, as well as learning ways to enhance our nature photography using the cameras on our cell phones. In the process participants will be asked to choose something from the scene that speaks to them in some way, to take a picture of it (or have someone else take a picture of them next to it) and then to write a poem that incorporates or is inspired by what they picked. This will be followed to a time for participants to show what they photographed and share what they wrote.
Second Hour – Reading
For the first 15 to 20 minutes, John will read from his poetry. This will then be followed by a 45 minute Open Mic. 15 readers will sign up for 3 minute reading each
This project is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council, and the Bronx Council on the Arts
Location: Soundview Point in Soundview Park
Entrance at Rosedale and Lacombe Avenues, past the amphitheater, take path along waterfront, leading past the boat launch. When you see the concrete circle with sign that says Soundview Point at the waterfront, you are there.
Masks recommended, but not required. If you or another participant are not feeling well, or have been exposed to COVID 19, please remain home. Thank you
