“Live Big Girl: A Chair That Fits” is a poetic play that pushes boundaries when addressing fatphobia simply by the act of living big. Written by Rebeca Lois Lucret and Vanessa Chica Ferreira, directed by Peggy Robles-Alvarado. This play speaks on the personal and vulnerable experiences of living in larger bodies, demanding space while educating and muting the mouths of critics.

Fat bodies continue to be a topic that plagues beauty norms, social media, healthcare, and the day-to-day lives of many people. The more places this conversation is had, the more seeds are planted making for a more informed and compassionate society towards ANY and all differences. "Live Big Girl" is a chronological play that navigates the life stages of women living in bigger bodies, from childhood experiences of body shaming in salons to adolescent struggles with eating habits influenced by family standards. The play explores the complexities of self-images shaped by social standards, and ventures into the challenges of the dating scene. Ultimately, it is a call for self-acceptance and respect in society for anyone living in a bigger body.

This autobiographical and poetic show includes oral history, verse storytelling, competition-style spoken word, comedic moments, and animations to challenge myths like the BMI and recent laws about airplane seating. "Live Big Girl" celebrates the body's beauty in all its forms and advocates for a world where everyone has a comfortable seat at the table.
