The fundamentals of writing an effective, persuasive grant proposal are covered in this two-part course.
Session 1: The preliminary work involved in vetting a list of appropriate foundation prospects and beginning to build relationships with them.
Understanding and articulating the need for your project and making the case for why your project is the right solution to meet that need.
The components of grant proposals that support the main story - the evaluation or assessment of impact and the development of a strong project budget.
Session 2: The challenging task of the very first step in the process: when done well, the letter of inquiry is a distillation of all the thinking in the proposal. We will deconstruct some sample LOIs and discuss what works and does not work in each.
Orienting participants to the art of relationship building and maintenance that underpins grant writing. We will emphasize the importance of both informal and formal communication.
