Bronx Filmmakers, join us for a conversation on Equity within Film/TV by Brandy Monk-Payton, Ph.D. Professor at Fordham University

A free industry talk with Dr. Brandy Monk-Payton, an assistant professor of Communication and Media Studies at Fordham University.
This fireside chat will center around equity within the film/television industry and how BIPOC creatives can expand their footprint within it.
Conversation will focus on:
- Looking Back: Recent history of BIPOC inclusion in the film/tv industry
- The Current Situation: BIPOC representation and the problem of “diversity” in Hollywood
- Looking Forward: Towards equity and justice for BIPOC film/tv creatives
If you're a young, aspiring, early career or seasoned filmmaker from The Bronx or NYC as a whole, this event is for you!
Come ready to listen, meet new people, have conversations, learn about how we can connect the past to the present This is an opportunity for you!
A little bit about us, we're a new 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission to bring an independent movie theater to the Bronx. This will be a space for us, by us here in The Bronx, a space to enjoy indie, art house, foreign and local films and an incubator space to train the next class of success filmmakers. Imagine a multi-screen cinema center on the Grand Concourse, near Fordham Road.
