Artist De La Vega Resumes Public Exhibition After Eleven-Year Hiatus

August 11, 2023, Bronx, NY - Beloved in Spanish Harlem for his public murals, artist De La Vega quietly disappeared from the art scene in 2012 following a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. On September 28, the Dynamic Arts Gallery in the Bronx will present a new exhibit titled “De La Vega Museum.”

For a time, the artist had a storefront of the same name on St. Mark’s Place. Known primarily for his murals and sidewalk chalk drawings that appeared throughout Manhattan, De La Vega’s work often includes inspiring messages, such as “Become Your Dream.” The forthcoming collection will feature new work created at his home studio, neighboring the Castle Hill gallery.

“We are thrilled to host De La Vega, as his work embodies the ethos of our vision to encourage authentic expression in an inclusive community,” states Erin McSorley, director of Dynamic Arts programming at IAHD. Proceeds from art sales will directly support the arts program, which aims to expand access to the arts and promote the work of neurodivergent artists.

Curated by Johnny Mattei and Ori-Ann Dryden,

“De La Vega Museum” will run from September 28 through November 9 at 770 Castle Hill Ave, Bronx, NY.
