BMP | Short Talks: Writing Boundary-Busting Memoirs with Orlando Ferrand

In this creative writing workshop, led by Orlando Ferrand, participants will capture their reactions in writing to the various themes explored by the writers in the reading selection through journaling and collectively generated prompts, we’ll learn how to dig deeper into the fabric of our own memories. Each session will act as a building block in the process of writing, rewriting, and developing fluid personal narratives in which omission will be as vital as a statement.

Over the course of four weeks, participants will learn how to compose and amplify flash memoirs into fleshed-out personal narratives by combining the extreme synthesis of poetic discourse with the dramatic tension of fiction and the truth-telling of creative nonfiction.
