Antón Una Ópera Boricua narrates the life of a Puerto Rican kid from the age of 4 in Puerto Rico until the age of 15 when he arrived in The Bronx, New York in 1967. It was written using the AfroPuertoRican genres: Bomba, Plena, Música Jíbara and Danza. Salsa and Bolero were also used. This is the first time in the history of Puerto Rico that its native genres are used to write an opera. It was written by Professor, and long time Bronx resident, Armando Pacheco Matos. It will be presented at Hostos Center for the Arts, 52Park, Rincon Criollo-Casita de Chema and El Maestro Inc.
