Maya, a young Salvadoran-American woman, navigates a treacherous terrain of adolescence, personal trauma, and uncovering buried family mythology through magic and folklore as she comes of age in Phoenix, Arizona. Her story explores mother-daughter relationships, mixed race identity, and fantasy as a coping mechanism, while featuring the movement and dance talents of our dynamic cast. This experimental piece incorporates traditional Spanish folk songs and dancing, with live singing performances.
