Memoir can be the ultimate storytelling tool for speaking truth to power and using our voice. So how do we intentionally use our voices to feel heard and have an effective impact both for our own healing and the world at large?In this writing workshop, we will use memoir and other storytelling and writing techniques to find our voices and overcome any perceived barriers on how to articulate our unique stories and truths.
About Caroline Rothstein (Instructor)
Caroline Rothstein is an internationally touring and acclaimed writer, poet, performer, and educator. She has been performing spoken word poetry, public speaking, facilitating workshops and teaching at colleges, schools, performance venues, summer camps, and community organizations for over a decade. Her work has appeared in Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, BuzzFeed, NYLON, Narratively, The Forward, Kveller, and elsewhere. Lady Gaga calls Caroline “a very inspiring woman,” and she has been featured widely including in The New Yorker, MTV News, Chicago Tribune, CBS Evening News, BuzzFeed News, HuffPost, Mic, and Newsweek. She was a member of the 2010 Nuyorican Poets Cafe slam team, which placed second at the 2010 National Poetry Slam, and is a Youth Mentor at Urban Word NYC. She has a B.A. in classical studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.S. from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
