Set yourself up with the knowledge to make good financial decisions in 2019! Designed and led by Creative Capital Awardee Amy Smith, a working artist with expertise in bookkeeping, budgeting, tax preparation, and financial management, this workshop is designed to better your financial management skills and raise your financial literacy. These workshops are appropriate for individual artists working in any genre and at any point in their careers.
Session #1 will provide an overview of financial essentials include terms, current economic conditions, valuing time, negotiating pay, expense tracking and taxes.
About Amy Smith, Instructor
Amy Smith is a dance and theater artist, educator, and activist based in Philadelphia. She is a founder and Co-Director of Headlong, a community arts organization. In addition to creating and performing extensively in Headlong’s experimental dance work, she has worked in theater, cabaret, and opera. Amy has over 20 years of experience in the for-profit and non-profit worlds doing accounting and financial management work. She teaches financial literacy workshops and does tax preparation for artists. Her activism work centers around dismantling racism and systemic oppressions. Amy’s personal mission is to help artists improve their financial literacy so they can reach their own financial goals.
