Esteban's artistic practice confronts and challenges prevailing racial and gender stereotypes pervasive in popular culture. Drawing inspiration from Afro-Cuban symbolism rooted in Abakua, Lucumi, and Regla Kimbisa spirituality, he endeavors to redefine the narratives and contemporary systems that perpetuate racism and sexism. Esteban's paintings are characterized by their mystical nature, centered around the Black experience.
