Bronx River Art Center (BRAC), a 35 year old community-based multi-arts organization, located in a four-story state of the art new building on the banks of the Bronx River in the West Farms area of the Bronx is looking to fulfill teaching positions for Fall 2022 and beyond. Through its three interlocking programs: after-school classes in visual and media arts, contemporary art exhibitions, performances, and affordable studio spaces for professional artists, BRAC provides cultural opportunities to a multi-ethnic community in the Bronx and NYC at large. Located one block from the train station West Farms Sq - E Tremont Avenue of the #2, and #5 trains, BRAC is conveniently accessible and easy to reach.

Job opportunities and descriptions:

1. TEACHING ARTIST
Advanced Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, and Web Design.
Fall 2022: October 3 to December 17, 2022
Employment type: Part-time Seasonal Application Deadline: Monday, September 12, 2022

Details:
Ages: (7 - 12 yrs.), Teens (13 - 19 yrs.), Young Adults (20 - 25 yrs.) and Adults (26 +).
Duration: 10 weeks (October 3 to December 17)
Days: 2 hr. classes meet once a week in the Art, Ceramics, Printmaking Studios or Media Lab.
Hours: Afternoons (4:30 - 6:30 pm), Evenings (6:30 to 8:30 pm), Saturdays (11:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 to 4:00 pm)

Benefits: P/T Position. This is a great position for:

Qualifications:
* Art Degree or Concentration in Art (experience in teaching in a community setting).
* Experience Teaching and designing curriculum.
* Commitment to the values of Arts Education.
* Real interest in contributing to the creative development of diverse populations.

2. ART INSTRUCTOR
Teen Project Studio (TPS)
BRAC is looking to hire an experienced and passionate teaching artist to create a project and lead one of its art and design programs, Teen Project Studio (TPS) in the Fall 2022. TPS sessions take place in our new state of the art facilities in the West Farms area of the Bronx, and meet for 2 hours, 2 times per week + one Saturday per month.

- Details:
Ages: Teens and young adults (15 to 23 yrs old).
Duration: 10 weeks (October 3 to December 17).
Days: 2 hr. class meets twice a week: Tuesday & Thursday OR Wednesday & Friday.
Hours: Afternoons (4:30 - 6:30 pm).
Employment type: Part-time contract based.

- About TPS:
Teen Project Studio (TPS) is a design oriented interdisciplinary program for teens and young adults ages 15-23 yrs. The free program is limited to 15 students who are registered through a selection process. TPS is a unique opportunity to experience and learn about visual arts & creative industries in an interactive and challenging way. TPS is also an opportunity to meet other participants with similar interests and eagerness to learn and create. Participants are not required to have design experience, just the willingness to learn, share, and create to make a difference in the development of Public Art in the city.

- Responsibilities:
Develop a project to be implemented with the students.
The project must be design based and can take the form of an installation or finished product. For reference, please check past TPS projects.
Develop the lesson plans for your project.
Collaborate with staff on best practices.
Participate in development and planning meetings.
Liaise with students, Education Manager, and BRAC staff about progress of the project.

- Qualifications:
A deep commitment to creative and educational practices.
An inclusive pedagogical approach.
Teaching experience required, prior work with museums and /or arts organizations a plus.
Exemplary classroom management skills
Experience writing your proposal and executing your visions and ideas.

- Compensation:
Seasonal contract based on $125 / 2.5 hr. session + additional meetings / outings paid.
