The Hope of Israel Senior Center will facilitate 46 two-hour sessions that provide older adults with the opportunity to study a wide variety of traditional and contemporary poetry with the goal of developing their skills as readers and creators of poetry. Anyone from the community who is 60 years of age or older is eligible to enroll in the workshop. In the last month of the program, students will share their works at a public reading with an audience of Center members, family, friends, and those from the greater community. In addition, at the end of the project year, a journal of selected works by the students will be published. The Journal will be distributed at the public reading and other Center events. The Journal will also be used to gain the support of funders.
