Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx is the largest park in New York City and one of the most beautiful, with meadows, shorelines, woods, wildlife, recreational facilities, including Orchard Beach, and a rich history, exemplified by the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum. Working with the Friends of Pelham Bay Park and the Pelham Bay Park administrator, the City Island Historical Society is planning to create an exhibition called "Picture the Park!" of the winners of a photography contest that will open to the public in February 2015, in which the public will vote on their favorites through Facebook in five different categories. Prizes will be awarded by the Friends of Pelham Bay Park for the best images in each category plus a grand prize winner, and the City Island Nautical Museum will mount an exhibition of the winning photographs and runners-up in each of the five categories (Seasons, People in the Park, Wildlife, The Infusion of Bronx History, and Scenic Views).
