The vision of the project I AM! is documenting images and lives of Queer, Trans and Gender Non-Conforming People of Color in the Bronx. I want to document the positive things people are doing in the Bronx. Documenting activist, students, educators, mothers, politicians, faith-based folks, and various types of community members who are making a difference in their communities and other people lives. Documenting people who are out around their sexuality and gender expression. The value of documenting these images and stories are to expand the canon of the current narratives that Queer, Trans and Gender Non-Conforming People of Color lives only involves violence and/ or ends in violence. Given the recent massacre of Trans, Gender Non-Conforming, Queer People of Color at Latinx night in Orlando, Florida there is an urgent need for different stories and images.
