Bronx Literary Festival

Bronx Literary Festival
The Bronx Literary Festival is dedicated to engaging and growing the community of poets and writers in the Bronx and to connecting those literary artists to readers and booklovers of all ages. Through readings, workshops, and presentations the coalition’s goal is to engage the community with a variety of literature and programs that will broaden access to Bronx literary artists, increase library usage, and encourage a love of books and reading. The education benefits of reading have been well documented. Readers do better in mathematics, develop social skills, and exponentially increase their vocational opportunities. As the Bronx Literary Festival grows, it’s our hope that we influence the reading habits of attendees well into the future. The project is supported by the coalition’s staffs: the New York Public Library –Bronx Library Center (venue sponsor), Literary Freedom Project, Nuyorican Poetry School, and Blind Beggar Press. Additional organizing committee members include poet Peggy Robles Alvarado; and poet/activist Lorraine Currelley. We continue to invite additional Bronx organizations to join our coalition.
