People of Earth is a 13 member latin music collective ensemble featuring some of the best musicians in New York City who hail from countries around the world including Cuba, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Switzerland, Greece, Colombia, Canada and the United States and mix their global heritage and influences with music from throughout the Americas and Caribbean. People of Earth is committed to creating exciting and diverse original music drawing on elements of Caribbean dance music such as Timba, Salsa, Rumba, Compa, and more and using their music to build community, spread joy, and inspire their audiences. In 2023, PoE released its debut self-titled album on Truth and Revolution records, featuring 9 original songs and arrangements with songs in English, Spanish and Portuguese. In 2022 PoE premiered Dafnis Prieto's Tentacíon Concerto, a symphonic work for the band and string orchestra, which PoE performed with Louisville Orchestra, New World Symphony, Britt Festival Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. PoE has been presented in concert by Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center, the Kennedy Center, the Mann Center, and many other world class institutions and venues throughout the United States. Passionate about music education, People of Earth is very active within the New York City public schools, presenting children's shows, workshops, and private instrumental instruction. The members of PoE perform around the world with some of the most renowned musicians across a multitude of genres including Arturo O'Farrill, Yo-Yo Ma, Ruben Blades, Chris Thile and others.
