The Morrisania Band Program will add life to the South Bronx through artistic engagement and performances from local talent. Within our borough, there are hundreds of musicians that compose, sing, and/or play instruments, but budget cuts severely stagnate their artistic growth, forcing them to travel outside of their communities for those opportunities. The goals for this project are to expand creativity and reinforce confidence in an underserved population. Hosted by vocal performer, Elissa M. Carmona, this 18-week series will target adult musicians for free hands-on music clinics, professional mentoring, and live artist showcases. The program will run at the DreamYard Project on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons, beginning in September 2016. Enrollment will be first-come, first serve, and will require a weekly commitment for a minimum of 6 weeks.
