Children's Crusade

The Children’s Crusade Touring Company is comprised of nine multi-hyphenated artists, currently living and rehearsing together. With shows planned across New York and New England, and with our background in creating safe and accessible theatre in the time of Covid, our goal is to bring live performance back to your community this summer!

Children’s Crusade is the story of eight low income kids from Utica, New York who believe one among them to be a prophet. After an inexplicable message from God, it is up to them to travel to the holy land and find Him. Chronicling their journey from their small cul-de-sac all the way to Jerusalem, we watch as these kids adventure beyond the only world they’ve ever known and discover surprising new things about themselves. Although they come from different ideologies, they must rely on each other in order to journey out and fulfill their goals.

This play was borne out of a desire for togetherness and built around the core value of community and connection. It is an ensemble play with music; a hopeful piece about perseverance. Children’s Crusade is a play about journeying beyond the world you know. Our hope is that by sharing this piece we can bring an audience together in a time when we are forced apart. The Children’s Crusade team is re-emerging as a traveling company that specializes in performing at unconventional/conventional outdoor theater spaces.With our fully transportable set, Children’s Crusade can unfold in any outdoor location. All we need is an audience and an outlet!
