Riverdale Art Association Highlights “The Three Sisters”
The Riverdale Art Association’s May exhibit features the work of three sisters - Dorothy Feldman, Carolyn Graybow, and Ruth Licht – that will be featured at the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture,4450 Fieldston Road.
All three are retired educators, and active artists whose early art-making began with their father's informal instruction.
Each has gone on to develop their own unique style. Dorothy, for example, works with pencil, watercolors, collage, balancing the discipline of portraiture with the more spontaneous nature of watercolors. Currently, she uses photography to portray patterns in nature.
Carolyn works in a variety of styles, including landscape, collage and still life. Through close observation, she absorbs the essence of what she has chosen, and then works spontaneously, without following a formula.
Ruth has worked with clay, watercolor and acrylic paints. When observing her surroundings, Ruth thinks about how she would translate the images and colors into a work of art.
