This month, we celebrate the artistic, cultural and musical legacy of two important organizations that were integral to the Black Arts Movement: AJASS (African Jazz Arts Society & Studio) in the Bronx and The East in Brooklyn. The program will open with a discussion featuring David Antoine and George "Maliki" Robinson (sound engineers at The East), Ajuba Bartlay-Grinage (Grandassa model), Cinque Brath (Elombe Brath Foundation), Basir Mchawi (photographer) and T.S. Monk (musician).
A concert will follow featuring alumni of AJASS sponsored concerts and performances at The East: T.K. Blue, George Braith, Ronnie Burrage, Danny Mixon, Antoinette Montague and NEA Jazz Master Reggie Workman.
