Bronx Memoir Project Workshop: 90 Pages and Beyond

In this free online creative writing workshop, led by Latanya DeVaughn, participants will delve into memories through a series of discussions and writing prompts. Each workshop will tackle universal themes of love, loss, family, and dreams while honing storytelling skills and finding a unique voice. Participants will learn to structure writing practices using the 90-page formula and have the opportunity to revise and improve older works or create new ones.

Writers of all experience levels are welcome. By the end of the 4 sessions, participants should have a draft ready for submission and editing. Participants of the Bronx Memoir Project Workshop Series are eligible to submit their memoirs for consideration in the next Anthology. Click here to purchase last year's Anthology.

Workshop Schedule

Session I - Exploring the Self  - Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Participants will go on a journey of self-discovery to dig into their experiences to unveil hidden facets that define a personal narrative.

Session II - Collecting Memories  –  Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
In this workshop, participants will learn to identify memories and arrange them into a cohesive and meaningful narrative of their life experiences.

Session III - Places and Spaces  – Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Places and spaces are more than just settings; they help to shape and reflect one’s memories and emotions of one’s life story.

Session IV - Creating a Narrative Arc  –  Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
This workshop explores shaping one’s life story into a coherent timeline, marking the highs and lows into a compelling story of growth and self-discovery that will relate to or resonate with readers.
