BMP| Better than Fiction: Writing from Pandemonium to Enlightenment

In this creative writing workshop, led by Orlando Ferrand, participants will read, examine and celebrate the craft of several published Bronx memoirists reflecting on their own memories and fundamental questions in the course of these chaotic times. We’ll collectively create writing prompts fueled by the feelings and emotions stirred up by the reading selections, and we’ll explore our relationship with the pandemic world we live in without losing touch with the subjective essence of creative writing. However, we’ll challenge our role as creative writers amid disinformation campaigns. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to share their work and learn how to give and receive writing feedback that will enlighten the writer and create an emotional experience for the reader.
