Seeding Our Futures is the first-panel discussion and community conversation in our series, Artists Engage. Research has shown that climate change disproportionately impacts Black, Indigenous and people of color. In New York, and the Bronx in particular, as the land changes and development rises, there are increasingly scarce food sources, shrinking green spaces, and a lack of support for people living and creating within their communities. Artists are often able to tap into the world around them in order to give light to current lived experiences, and/or illuminate the way to new possibilities. ‘Seeding Our Futures’ addresses the intersections of sustainability, social justice and art-making. This conversation will provide an examination of working at the intersection of arts and climate change and engagement with climate change through artistic practices.
