I STOOD MY GROUND

Featured Artwork: It goes one ear and out the other, 2024 by Jeong Hur.

I Stood My Ground featured nine artists who offered a glimpse into stories that connect emotions and memories through different materials (magnet flakes, concrete, clay, etc.) and personal storytelling. These artists reimagine the use of conventional materials to expose an unconventional narrative and methodology, while inviting the viewer to learn about enigmas and perceptions that challenge the status quo.

This exhibition was part of the 2024 Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos’ season titled Against the Grain, which sought to challenge hegemonic narratives and advocate for the restitution of overlooked stories to build up a more inclusive historical account.
