Eileen Newman, prior to her appointment as the Executive Director of the Center for Bronx Nonprofits at Hostos’ Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, was the Director of Community Engagement and Deputy Director at the Tribeca Film Institute. She has worked in the non-profit sector her entire career.  Prior to joining the Tribeca Film Institute, Eileen served as the Executive Director of the National Board of Review and Film Video Arts and held leadership positions at New Visions for Public Schools and the NYC Department of Education. Eileen was a Senior Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University for 13 years and has served on numerous non-profit boards. Flyer.

This solo exhibition of work by painter Freddy Rodríguez (b.1945, Santiago, Dominican Republic) features his exploration of geometric abstractions through his hard-edged paintings and drawings executed over nearly four decades. The Bronx Council on the Arts' Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos is proud to be among the awardees being recognized by the Bronx Pride Committee of the Bronx LGBTQ Center at the 2015 Bronx LGBTQ Pride Awards Dinner on July 14, 6-11pm, at the Eastwood Manor at 3371 Eastchester Road in the Bronx. The gallery will receive the DJ Frankie Knuckles Pride in the Arts award for being an organization who has been working to better the lives of all in the LGBTQ community in the Bronx and beyond. Sharp House Girls on Field Trip
The Bronx WritersCorps program took Sharp House girls group home on a field trip to Tuff City in the Bronx. Tuff City is a tattoo shop that also teaches the art of graffiti to kids in a positive way. The 2015 BRIO Awards Presentation on June 10th filled the Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos with the proud friends and family of the 25 new BRIO winners (pictured above) who entered the fold this year. The event marked the 26th anniversary of BCA and BRIO celebrating artistic excellence in the Bronx since 1989. Click here to learn more about this year's winners.
