I am a Bronx-based artist of Japanese-descent working in performance and video, mostly in the butoh genre. My work seeks an aesthetic that is uniquely Japanese-American. I believe the decisive moment that truly separates what is Japanese-American from what can be referred to as Japanese-Japanese is the internment camps during World War II, so a lot of my work connects to internment camps in some way.

I am a current artist-in-residence at Movement Research, and have developed work through residencies at Gibney Dance (Work Up 6.1), Amanda + James, and a CUNY Dance Initiative residency at Lehman College. Past work has been presented at Gibney Dance, Amanda + James, Triskelion Arts, HERE Arts, Dixon Place, Arts On Site, Lehman College, Abrons Art Center, and Movement Research at Judson Church. I received an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied multimedia performance
