Davalois Fearon

Davalois Fearon
Davalois's dance-making stems directly from her desire to break out of cycles of inequality by shining a light on issues that affect underrepresented communities to help cultivate a more equitable society. She became an artist because she saw an opportunity to make a difference in the world through the arts. As a result, she founded her dance company, Davalois Fearon Dance (DFD), with the mission to push artistic and social boundaries by creating multidisciplinary works that confront complex issues, prompt contemplation, and cultivate the next generation of artists. She collaborates with dancers, composers, musicians, poets, visual artists, and performance artists. She blends dancehall, reggae, hip-hop, step, salsa, Yoga, West African, and belly dance with ballet, Cunningham, Graham, and Horton. In addition, she incorporates live music and multimedia performance art to create experiences that engage audiences on multi-sensory levels.
