Grants

Danza Fie The Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) offers funding to support community-centered arts and culture projects and to recognize outstanding local artists. Applications are accepted from individual artists, artist collectives, and non-profit arts and community organizations for projects in a wide variety of disciplines, including dance, film/video/media, folk arts, interdisciplinary arts, literary arts, multi-disciplinary projects, music, opera, theater, visual arts/crafts, and others. Emerging and pre-professional artists, women, the disabled, artists of color, members of the LGBTQ community and other under-represented individuals or organizations are encouraged to apply.

Below are BCA’s grant opportunities. BCA’s investments not only allow for the development of community-centered arts and culture projects but also provide opportunities for the community at large to engage with the arts at a local level.

GRANT PANELISTS WANTED

The Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) seeks artists, arts professionals, and community-based organization leaders to serve as panelists for our 2023 grant cycle.

BCA is committed to a fair and transparent environment for the review of grant applications. All of our grants are reviewed by specially convened panels of artistic peers, representing a range of ethnicities, genders, ages, and artistic styles. Panelists participate in a training session before they serve, to ensure they are working from a shared understanding of the evaluation criteria. We ask in advance about any conflicts of interest, and panelists are asked not to review a submission if there is a strong prior relationship present. Panelists are compensated for their time.

Apply to serve as a panelist for the Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) and help make a difference in arts funding in the borough.

Panelists are an essential component of BCA’s grant-making process, selecting projects and deciding on the distribution of grant funds to Bronx based artists, art collectives, art organizations, and other community-based groups. Panelists help foster equitable, transparent and inclusive grantmaking practices, in accordance with BCA’s mission and values.

Panelists commit to reviewing and scoring applications, and to participating in an in-person meeting to discuss selected projects. First-time panelists are required to participate in an in-person training. Panelists receive an honorarium for their service. All activities take place in the Bronx.
